‘Jidou 17 (NF36)’ is the most widely approved and popular elite cultivar with highest yield in China. The research on high yield mechanism of ‘Jidou 17’ was supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China.
‘Jidou 17’ has set a high yield record in China's main soybean producing areas, with a large area yielding over 4500kg/ha (up to 5326.5kg/ha). It was registered and released for three times by the National Crop Variety Approval Committee and Crop Variety Approval Committee of Hebei Province separately. It solved the issue of narrow adaptation range of soybean cultivars. It was adapted to the spring-sowing and summer-sowing areas as many as 10 provinces and cities such as the Huang-Huai-Hai region and the northwest loess plateau.
The oil content of ‘Jidou 17’ was 23.42%, which was higher than that of imported soybean cultivars and soybean cultivars of northeast China. It expanded the high-oil-content soybean producing area in China from northeast spring soybean region to Huang-Huai-Hai summer soybean region.
Due to optimized plant type, drought and water-logging resistance, and adaptability to mechanized planting, Jidou17 was favored by large-scale farms with an extension area for more than 10 million mu.
