On August 22, the delegation of the International Training Workshop on Grain Legume Molecular Breeding and Cultivation Technique visited the Cereal and Oil Crops Institute (ICOC). Thirteen foreign representatives from six countries including Egypt, Mongolia, Pakistan, Vietnam, DPRK and Bangladesh, five accompanying personnel from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, as well as the leaders and soybean researchers from the International Cooperation Division of HAAFS and ICOC participated in the event. Director Sun Fengguo of the International Cooperation Division of HAAFS attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Dr. Li Hui presided over the meeting and introduced the general situation of the ICOC. Prof. Sun Shi and Dr. Wu Tingting from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences introduced the situation of the training workshop. Dr. Naren introduced the progress of soybean research on behalf of the Soybean Center of HAAFS. Over 30 domestic and foreign participants had worm discussions and exchanged views on mutual interesting issues.
Representatives of the training workshop visited the laboratories of the Soybean Center and inspected the Dishang Experimental Station and Gaocheng Demonstration Base. Director Yang Chunyan, Deputy Director Yan Long and Dr. Shi Xiaolei of the Soybean Center introduced in details about the improvement of soybean varieties in the institute and exchanged information with foreign guests on the spots.
The International Training Workshop on Grain Legume Molecular Breeding and Cultivation Technique aims to promote the application of the leguminous molecular breeding and cultivation techniques and related theory in developing countries. Hopefully, the training will increase the production capacity, promote green cultivation techniques, alleviate the shortage of resources and improve the ecological environments in developing countries.
Through this event, we further understand the demands in developing countries for soybean varieties and advanced technologies, publicized our soybean research achievements, and laid the foundation for future cooperation with developing countries in the soybean related fields.
