On September 3, the exhibition of “sorghum growing in hilly area” was held in Yuanshi County by Institute of Millet. The sorghum research group and Yuanshi County had constructed the cooperative thousands acres of sorghum production field. Over 80 people from provincial agriculture and rural department, local sorghum distributors, plantation cooperative and the media have participated in the on-site observation. During the exhibition, Researcher Du Ruiheng from the institute introduced the characteristics and cultivation techniques of new sorghum varieties “Jiniang 2” and “Jiniang 4”. Local sorghum situation have been known and it provides a good foundation for developing sorghum production in hilly areas, and further promotes the development of sorghum industry in Hebei Province.

On September 4, the project of “Breeding of high quality and high yield edible sorghum new varieties” held on-site observation in Baixiang and Jing County. Researcher Ji Guisu from the institute introduced the characteristics and planting techniques of the new sorghum variety “Jixiangliang 2”.
