In order to enrich the practical activities of sciences and cultivate the teenager’s interest in agriculture, the Institute of Cereal and Oil Crops and Shijiazhuang No.44 Middle School held a series of activities to popularize scientific knowledge in Dishang Experimental Station on September 11.

Director LI Yan and Headmaster XIA Qiang signed an agreement to jointly build the “the practice and education base of modern agricultural science ”. On behalf of the institute, Secretary LI Hui presented different crop seeds to the school and Deputy secretary LI Jianru returned the gift of books about botanical garden and plant sciences.

Director MA Zhimin from sweet potato research group gave the students a lecture on “relationship with the population growth of crop breeding”, and explained in detail the origin of crops, the importance of agricultural scientific research, crop variety improvement in water conservation , the national security of life and the significant role of national development. He encouraged teenagers to cultivate the passion for agriculture. Students also operated photosynthetic apparatus, leaf area measuring instrument, grain counting instrument, moisture meter and other small test equipment, and carried out corn harvest practice activities.

This activity enhanced the cooperation between the institute and school, and let the student understand the magic, mystery and beauty of smart agriculture. It help the teenagers to broaden their horizon, increase the knowledge and improve their sense of social responsibility and abilities of innovation and practice.
