In order to give full play to the leading role of foreign talents and intellectual work, stimulate the vitality of scientific and technological innovation, and raise the level of technical innovation, the online academic presentation by foreign experts with the theme of “Sustainable crop production and model simulation” was held on November 11th in the Institute of Cereal and Oil Crops. Professor LIU Fulai from University of Copenhagen and Dr. ZHAO Zhigan from CSIRO Australia were invited to present the report.

Professor LIU expressed the report “Exploiting the physiological mechanisms for stress resilience and sustainable crop production”, mainly introduced crop resilience and adaptation strategies and physiological mechanism of efficient utilization of water and fertilizer under global climate change, and showed in detail that how to maintain the sustainable production capacity of crops.

Dr. ZHAO gave the report on “APSIM model and its application in crop production” to describe the module setting, APSIM, a widely used model in global agriculture. APSIM is mainly used in the fields of test prediction, crop management and climate change impact assessment. The future application of this model such as crop physiological traits and gene function, global scale climate change and crop production are prospected.
