On April 26th, the principal and teachers of Xiyuan Primary School led students to the wheat trial field of Institute of Biotechnology and Food Science. They participated in the activity ‘the life of wheat’.
Scientific staffs explained the origin and evolution of wheat, growth and development stages of wheat emergence, tillering, flowering pollination and maturity, winter wheat rapid breeding technology and edible characteristics of wheat. The introduction was simple and vivid. The students listened carefully and thought positively. They have observed the morphological characteristics of wheat plants in the field, learned the morphology of stigma and stamen, and the crossbreeding process of wheat. They asked questions and had exchange with scientific staffs.
The children rooted themselves in the field like wheat seedlings and absorbed the nutrients of knowledge. They showed the thirst for scientific knowledge and respect of reseearch, as well as they realize that the food is hard-earned. May the seeds of science and hope be planted in the hearts of children.
