Yield estimate of high starch content corn variety Jiyu 757

On October 4th, the Corn Center of the Institute of Cereal and Oil Crops held a field test of the "Large Area Demonstration of High Starch Content Corn Variety Jiyu 757" project in Ningjin County of Xingtai City and Zhao County of Shijiazhuang City, and invited experts in relevant fields to estimate the yield of Jiyu 757.


SONG Wei, director of the corn center, introduced the characteristics of Jiyu 757 and the field management of the demonstration area to the experts. The experts inspected the growth of Jiyu 757, and then measured the yield in the demonstration area by using the five point sampling method. The results showed that the estimated yield of Jiyu 757 in Ningjin County and Zhao County reached 722.2kg/667㎡ and 734.9kg/667㎡ respectively, with an average increase of 15.3% compared with the control variety Zhengdan 958.


Jiyu 757 is released by the corn center of the Institute of Cereal and Oil Crops, with characteristics of high and stable yield, high lodging resistance, high disease resistance, medium to early maturity, and high starch content(up to 76.28%), which is suitable for starch extraction.
