On October 9th, an expert group conducted a yield mesurement meeting at the core demonstration area of the project "Research on the Rotation System of Main Cereal and Oil Crops in Groundwater Overexploitation Area" in Ningjin.
LI Yan, the director of Institute of Cereal and Oil Crops, introduced the overall situation of the base construction and the project. Dr. ZHENG Mengjing reported the field layout, experimental design, measurement indicators, research methods and research progress. This project mainly focuses on the research on the green and efficient rotation system of cereal crops, soybeans and sweet potatoes suitable for local water resource conditions. Through a three-year rotation cycle, the water saving effect and fertilizer saving effect of the production system are outstanding, and the economic and ecological benefits have been improved. The yield of corn, soybean and sweet potato were measured at the meeting, and the results were achieved by actual harvest on the spot. Verified by the expert group, measurements showed that the average yield per 667㎡of the corn under rotation mode was 44.3 kg higher than that of the corn under continuous cropping mode, with an increase rate of 7.4%. The soybean yield was 266.5 kg/667㎡and the sweet potato yield was 4384.6 kg/667㎡. The expert group fully affirmed the implementation effect of the project and suggested that the rotation system should carry out long-term positioning research to make theoretical exploration and technical reserves for the adjustment of planting structure.
