From the beginning of 2023, experts from the Institute of Shijiazhuang Fruit Research went deep into the front line of the orchard and worked closely with Pingshan County Agricultural and Rural Bureau to promote the implementation and completion of the "Special Action Plan for Pingshan Mountain Apple Industry (2022-2025)". Experts made annual production work plan for several orchards in Pingshan, in terms of variety selection, site preparation and planting, young tree shaping and pruning, fertilizer and water management, disease and pest prevention. Pruning technology training has been conducted for technical backbone and fruit farmers in the orchard, with a total of more than 60 people be trained.
Experts taught the pruning technology to every fruit grower, and answered the questions in detail. Meanwhile, the overwintering situation of small trees in the orchard, the amount of flower buds, and the amount of replanting were investigated, laying a foundation for the implementation of the annual work plan.
Pingshan County has a long history of apple planting for its excellent environment and site conditions. It is an advantageous area for the development of mountain apples. The research team is committed to building Pingshan County's high-end apple boutique park and promoting the revitalization of regional villages. In the future, it will take the key parks as the demonstration guide, and make the contribution of agricultural scientists to promote the high-quality and efficient development of mountain apple in Pingshan County, and help the rural revitalization.
