On May 8, 2023, the Institute of Cash Crops of HAAFS, together with Shijiazhuang Agricultural Technology Promotion Center, Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Jingxing County , and Xingtai Agricultural Technology Promotion Center, held a demonstration meeting for new varieties, new technologies, and new models of Chinese cabbage(Brassica rapa var. glabra Regel) in at Xingshu agricultural planting base in Jingxing County. Leaders of HAAFS, the institute and other relevant institutions attended the event.       

WANG Mingqiu, director of the institute, introduced the characteristics of the new spring variety ‘Jinchun 2’ and its production status. ‘Jinchun 2’ has the characteristics of thick green outer leaves, bright yellow inner leaves, bolting resistance, sweet and crisp taste, less fiber, strong disease resistance, and high marketability. LIU Xingfang, the person in charge of Xingshu Base, was engaged in agricultural production and planting Chinese cabbage in the first year. He had a good harvest in strict accordance with the guidance of experts of HAAFS. New technologies such as mechanization, fertigation, and green prevention and control were applied together in the production process. The production cost per 667㎡ during the whole growth period was more than 1000 yuan. Compared with other spring Chinese cabbage production bases under traditional production conditions, the water consumption was saved by 50%, agricultural chemicals were saved by 30%, and fertilizer was saved by 30%. The effect of cost saving and efficiency increase was significant.

Directors of planting bases and experts conducted detailed exchanges, achieving the vision of technological popularization and developing side by side. The activity played a positive role in promoting the quality and efficiency of Chinese cabbage industry and rural revitalization in central and southern Hebei Province.
