At present, summer maize planting in Hengshui City has entered the jointing stage to the big bell mouth stage. In order to better understand the current demand of maize production, monitor the field growth dynamics and the occurrence of pests and diseases, the Institute of Dryland Farming conducted summer maize seedling investigation and technical guidance services in Jing County from July 22nd to 23rd.
At the demonstration base for green production of grain crops in the low plains, water-saving experts from the Institute of Dryland Farming reported the current situation of corn production and large planting households consulted with experts on issues such as uneven growth of corn caused by irrigation uniformity. The technical personnel reported on the advanced production experience of competing for glory and heat during the summer corn seedling stage, using salt and light mixed irrigation, river water and pond water storage to create soil moisture at the same time, ensuring the emergence time of seedlings. The head of the cooperative consulted the inspection and guidance group about the phenomenon of excessive tillering of corn seedlings during squatting. At the spring corn and soybean strip planting field of Xingfeng Planting Farmers' Cooperative, experts from the inspection and guidance group explained the harm of cotton bollworm to corn ears and its prevention and control measures to the base leader on site, emphasizing that one week after corn silk spinning is the golden time for prevention and control.
This inspection and guidance activity systematically investigated the impact of climate factors such as precipitation, light, high temperature, and diseases, pests, and weeds on the growth and development of summer corn before and after sowing, and formulated measures for chemical control and lodging prevention, ear fertilizer application, and disease and pest prevention and control, which will effectively contribute to the high yield and harvest of autumn crops.
