From June 11 to 13, the Workshop on China-Africa Agricultural Science and Technology Cooperation under FAO South-South and Triangular Cooperation Framework held in Sanya, Hainan Province. The International Cooperation Division of HAAFS attent the workshop.
The workshop aims to bolster agricultural technology cooperation between China and African countries and facilitate the modernization of agriculture across Africa. The theme of this workshop is "Mechanism and Path of Agricultural Science and Technology Cooperation between China and Africa", with a focus on priority areas and suggestions for agricultural science and technology cooperation between China and Africa under the framework of "South South Cooperation", data and knowledge management cooperation, network and platform construction, and other topics.
More than 100 domestic and foreign representatives from multiple agricultural research institutions, regional organizations, embassies in China and Africa attended the workshop for exchange and discussion. During the workshop, Director ZHANG Meishen from the International Cooperation Division of HAAFS gave an exchange speech on the issue of data and knowledge management in Sino African agricultural science and technology cooperation under the framework of "win-win cooperation". She introduced the background and effectiveness of HAAFS’s agricultural science and technology cooperation with African countries, shared the cooperation between China and foreign countries in agricultural science and technology data and knowledge management through typical cases, and put forward feasible suggestions for strengthening data and knowledge management in the process of Sino African agricultural science and technology cooperation, which was recognized by the attendees. Meanwhile, the delegation had in-depth contact with foreign experts and scholars such as the African Agricultural Research Forum and the South African Agricultural Research Council, laying the foundation for further expanding and consolidating the scientific and technological cooperation between HAAFS and foreign research units.
