Invited by Saratov Region Development Corporation JSC(a national organization established by the Saratov Oblast government and entrusted with the functions of the Saratov Oblast Development Agency), a delegation led by Researcher PANG Zhaojin and composed of Researcher YAN Xinmin and XU Guoliang from Institute of Shijiazhuang Fruit Research, HAAFS, successfully completed an eight-day visit to Russia.

During the visit from May 25 to June 1, the delegation went to Saratov Oblast to conduct on-site inspections and research on orchard site selection, to learn about the apple production, climate, production conditions, variety structure, planting pattern, product sales and processing, and industrial development in the relevant regions of Saratov. The delegation also visited Saratov National University and had fruitful academic exchanges. Feasible opinions and suggestions for apple cultivation in Saratov were provide by the delegation.

This visit has established a cooperative relationship between HAAFS and Saratov Region Development Corporation JSC and Saratov National University in Russia, which has played a positive role in promoting the development of HAAFS’ apple research in cold regions and the international exchange and cooperation in this field.
