The delegation from the Institute of Plant Protection participated in an international academic symposium

From June 30 to July 7, at the invitation of the International Plant Protection Society, a delegation of 5 experts from the Institute of Plant Protection participated in the “20th International Plant Protection Congress” and the “14th International Symposium on Verticillium wilt” held in Athens, Greece. More than 750 plant protection experts and scholars from over 60 countries attended the conference, jointly discussing the theme of "plant health supports people's welfare".

During the conference, members of the delegation from the Institute listened to special reports in the fields of plant disease biological control, soil microbiome, research progress on the occurrence and control of plant wilt disease, and the application of remote sensing in plant protection. They also presented poster reports titled on "Surfactin and fengycin contribute different functions to the biological activity of Bacillus subtilis NCD-2 against cotton Verticillium wilt", "Development of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens PHODG36 Powder for Dry Seed Treatment and its application in cotton”, “Field Evaluation of Four Bacterial Flowable Concentrates for Seed Treatment on Yield and Control Efficiency against Stalk Rot on Maize”, and “Development of a Powder Formulation Based on Bacillus spp. for Biocontrol of Potato Verticillium Wilt”, showcasing the research institute's efforts to prevent and control cotton wilt disease. At the same time, face-to-face exchanges with colleagues from many internationally renowned universities such as the University of California, Davis, the University of G ö ttingen in Germany, and the Agricultural University of Athens, help to gain a deeper understanding of the latest developments in related research fields.

Finally, members of the delegation went to cotton fields and olive groves in Atalanti town, Fossioti state, Greece, to conduct field investigations on the occurrence of crop wilt and the application effects of green prevention and control technologies, providing a good reference for the green prevention and control of similar diseases in China.
