Corn variety “Jinuo 176” was awarded as an excellent variety at the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Fresh Corn Conference

From August 19 to 20, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Fresh Corn Industry High Quality Development Conference was held in Wanquan District, Zhangjiakou. Institute of Cereal and Oil Crops of HAAFS has attend the conference.

The varieties “Jinuo 176”, “Jinuo 175”, and “Jinuo 1201” selected by the Institute of Cereal and Oil Crops participated in this exhibition. The organizing committee organized experts to conduct blind evaluations on the field performance, appearance, and cooking of the exhibited varieties. Among them, “Jinuo 176” won the Excellent Variety Award in the Sweet and Glutinous Group (a total of three varieties won awards). “Ji Nuo 176” is a new variety of black sweet and glutinous fresh corn, with a sweet to glutinous ratio of 1:3 for the grain. It has a fragrant taste, a good color, thin skin, thick flesh, good commercial properties of the ear, early maturity, and is suitable for direct fresh consumption or vacuum or quick freezing processing. The fresh corn procurement products attending the meeting gave high praise after tasting, believing that “Jinuo 176” not only has good early maturity, but also excellent quality, which can be put on the market early for supply. Processing enterprises believe that this variety has moderate ear size, neatly arranged grains, and is very suitable for vacuum processing; The breed breeders believe that this variety has early maturity, disease resistance, and compact plant type, making it a good breeding material.
