From September 16th to 23rd, by the invitation of Wageningen University& Research in the Netherlands, Technical University of Munich and Kassel University in Germany, the 4 person of delegation from HAAFS led by Vice President ZHANG Qiang, paid an academic visit to the Netherlands and Germany.

At the Wageningen University in the Netherlands, academic exchange was held with experts from Biological Interactions Center and Plant Health Research. Professor Leo van Overbeek, Professor Theo van der Lee and Professor Tess van de Voorde gave academic presentations. The delegation introduced the research progress in waste resource utilization and soil microbial remediation of HAAFS’s, which aroused strong interest from the Dutch side. Both parties focused on discussing strategies and models for waste resource utilization, monitoring of pollution factors from agricultural and livestock waste, and development of next-generation functional bacterial products, and reached a cooperation intention.

At the Technical University of Munich in Germany, the delegation had discussions and exchanges on precision agriculture nutrient management, crop phenotype, model-based spectral and visible light data analysis. Both parties have reached a consensus on further strengthening personnel exchanges, jointly carrying out project applications, and collaborating on precision agriculture and crop phenotype research, and have signed a cooperation agreement.

At the University of Kassel in Germany, the delegation visited the organic production and agricultural ecosystem research center and had discussions on the challenges that urbanization transformation has brought to humanity in Africa, as well as the impact of climate change on carbon and nutrient cycling in agricultural ecosystems. The visiting has further deepened the friendly relations between HAAFS and Wageningen University, Technical University of Munich, and Kassel University. It has broadened the training path for young researchers, and played a positive role in promoting the high-quality development of resources and environment disciplines in Hebei Province.
